San Diego Zoo
Yesterday, Natalie and I went to the San Diego Zoo, which is reputed to be one of the best, if not the best zoo in America. I don’t have much basis for comparison, but I can say that it has a much broader array of animals and better habitats than the LA Zoo. We have a membership at the LA Zoo and since it’s located near my old lab, I use to go there every so often to take photos. It’s always a little sad walking through a zoo. In my opinion, the animals frequently look depressed—perhaps that’s just me anthropomorphizing them, but I don’t think that’s always the explanation. Anyways, until I can afford to travel the world like Eric and take photos of animals in their normal surroundings, I don’t have much choice. :/

Hungry hungry hippos!! I haven’t been to the zoo in years (something about living here and it being too accessible I guess). Have you ever checked out the Wild Animal Park? It’s much more my style of “zoo” – tons of land and not real exhibits per se. Anyhew, it’s tres cool :)
Yeah, we wanted to do both the Zoo and the WAP in the same day, but it turned out not to be feasible. Next time, we’re going to the WAP!
