Airport Express
Many of my readers won’t understand this, but I go for somewhat long periods of time during which I basically forget to listen to music. Of course, I listen to the radio in the car; I mean at home. I frequently forget to listen to music when I’m at home studying or just farting around. But when I remember, it’s like having a revelation again and again about how soothing Mozart, Bach, or some not-dead-yet artists can be. It’s amazing how profoundly music can affect one’s mood. One of the problems is that all my music is in digital form these days. I suppose I could listen to my iPod or through my computer, but who wants to wear headphones at home? I don’t. Ah, Apple has solved my problem. I broke down and (re)ordered an Airport Express—I had ordered one the day it was announced, but then cancelled my order, having convinced myself I didn’t really need it—turns out I did. Now, I can play music from my laptop through my real stereo system wirelessly. A truly beautiful thing.
