Whither email?
Dammit. Email is fast becoming an unreliable form of communication, and it’s finding various ways to do so (as if the spam problem wasn’t already enough to drive us all insane). Yesterday, emails sent to people at mac.com were lost between about 12:30 and 4pm PST. Never delivered and gone without a trace. A very, very, very important email from a collaborator which was sent to me yesterday went into the bit bucket with all those other emails. I only learned of the email when another person who had received it asked me what I thought of it. Sure enough, once that person forwarded the message to me, I saw my mac.com email should have received it at about 3pm PST. Fuck. This is completely unacceptable! This is the first time I’ve had a problem with Apple’s .Mac service (aside from iDisk being a tortoise), but if this happens again, I’ll ditch it, even if I am a Mac evangelist. Anyways, if anyone else emailed me at my mac.com address yesterday and I don’t get back to you, please resend your message. Thanks.

weird. why no e-mail at aaronlogan.com? screw mac.com.
Good question. I like using an email address that doesn’t advertise that I have my own domain. There are people who probably are better off not knowing this. For many years I used an email forwarding service (pobox.com), but I started phasing it out a few months ago because it’s a spam magnet. I hope my mac.com can be my new permanent address—I get zero spam there so far. S’pose I could just use my yahoo email. They actually seem to do a pretty good job of filtering out spam. The problem there is no POP access without paying, and I hate using webmail.
want @echeng.com ? :)
Hmm… I dunno. What’s the customer service like over there? ;)
